Great news! After depositing this patent in 2023 with Molecolab at Università di Pisa about a new modular photoreactor (or as we call it "The Fhattapposta") we are very happy to communicate that the patent was finally accepted. This innovation combines a fully modular architecture with interchangeable reaction, LED, stirring, and support modules, adaptable to conventional lab equipment. A smart control unit capable of automatically detecting connected modules and configuring the system accordingly. Integrated thermoregulation and optical filtering for precise reaction environments. A feedback-controlled illumination system that enables dynamic adjustment of LED output. This ability to monitor transmitted light and actively regulate the LED intensity to maintain a constant absorbed photon flux during the reaction is very useful to control photochemical reaction and favour reproducibility. A great thanks to the people of our Research & Innovation office at Università di Pisa for their essential contribution in translating an initial prototipe in a potential tool to boost innovation.
Grazie Mille Claudio e a presto!

Ludovica is about to embark on a new adventure as part of her doctoral studies. She will spend six months abroad in a formative research period, three months at the University of Durham in Prof. Gary Sharples’s group, where she will test the molecules she has synthesized for antimicrobial activity, and three months at the University of Glasgow in Prof. Andrew Jamieson’s group, where she will deepen her knowledge of peptide solid-phase synthesis.
I wish her all the best! It promises to be an enriching experience both scientifically and personally!
